How to put on a cuff bracelet.
Recently I had a cuff bracelet returned to me broken in half after 6 months of daily wear, the customer didn’t want the bracelet replaced because they were worried it would just happen again. After doing a bit of digging it turns out the client was stretching open and squeezing shut the bracelet to get it on and off each time they wore it. The cuff was made from solid silver, silver over time with repeated bending will weaken and eventually break. This scenario led me to ask on instagram who knew there is a correct way to put on and take of open style cuff bracelets. It turns out the majority didn’t. So here we are, you can view a short video below to see how cuff bracelets should be put on and off if you don’t already know how. In fact if you think you do know how why not give it a watch and let me know in the comments if you were right!
If you have arrived at this page because you purchased one of my Recycled Silver Good Intentions Cuffs then thank you for taking the time to find out how to look after your new piece of jewellery.
In case the video is inaccessible for you see the step-by-step guide below;
Position your hand thumb facing up, this exposes the narrowest part of your wrist.
Place the opening to the cuff about one inch behind your wrist pushing gently in to your wrist as shown where the arrow is in the image.
Lightly rotate your cuff opening over your radius bone and onto your wrist.
Rotate your bracelet so its laying flat on your wrist and position it so it sits securely just over the bump of your ulnar bone.
Reverse these steps to remove!
I hope this has been helpful and please do share with any of your friends who might be shortening the life of their cuff bracelets!
